Bored Fathers Who Have to Attend One Direction Concerts With their Daughters
If there is one thing CNN’s John Berman knows, it's hip. Right now, he says there is nothing hipper than the boy band "One Direction."
Berman says their song, "What Makes You Beautiful," is deeply and profoundly touching to anyone who hears it.
Well, maybe not everyone. He says he may be exaggerating a tiny bit because photos posted on Reddit, apparently of fathers who have been taken to a One Direction concert, beg to differ.
“Let's just say they are exerting themselves in ways they probably never imagined,” Berman empathizes. "The pain looks excruciating.”
So Berman has a special award to give these fathers, the "What Makes You Beautiful Award."
And he means it, seriously and without irony.
“It takes a special sort of man to take his kid to see a boy band," Berman says. "And your children, they will remember it forever. Or at least for most of the ride home.”
Possible new CBS Show: ER Meets the Emerald City?
Did you hear the idea for a new CBS show? CBs is developing a "medical soap inspired by 'The Wizard of Oz,'" CNN's John Berman reports. Seriously.
So it is like "ER" meet the Emerald City. "General Hospital" meets the munchkins. "Grey's Anatomy" meets the yellow brick road.
According to Berman, you could say "The Wizard of Oz" has organ transplant themes with the scarecrow getting a brain, and the tin man a heart. There are psychiatric themes, the lion needs courage. There are even veterinary these with Toto. Perhaps the wicked witch could be an HMO?
Still, this seems like a sketchy idea from CBS, says Berman, so I'm giving them the "Time to Get Time Warner Cable Award." Because you know, Time Warner Cable is still not airing CBS.
Peyton & Eli Manning Rap in New Direct TV Ad
Believe it or not, it is already time for pre-season football. Even if you are not ready for games, reports CNN's John Berman, you will be ready for Peyton and Eli Manning's rap performance in a new ad for Direct TV's new mobile football service.
Berman's favorite line: "It's football on your phone, so now is your chance, to have football on your phone. And football in your pants."
Another awesome cameo? Their father, football great Archie Manning.
"So let me present the award. Our award today goes to Peyton and Eli Manning," says Berman. "Tom Brady, on the other hand, is on the cover of 'Men's Health,' looking fabulous as always. Thanks Tom."
Award of the Day: Sharks!
One of the biggest films of the summer is Sharknado, and a couple of really creative folks created a Tumblr based on a simple theory - If there is one thing that makes every movie better, it is sharks.
