The DREAMer President Barack Obama highlighted in his national address on immigration Thursday night said she felt "complete relief" when Obama laid out his plan to shield up to 5 million undocumented immigrants from deportation and said she was surprised to hear him tell her story.
"It was completely unexpected. I didn't know that it was coming," Astrid Silva, an undocumented immigrant who came to the U.S. with her parents when she was four, said in an interview with CNN Friday.
Obama said Thursday that he will use his executive authority to focus immigration officials on "felons, not families. Criminals, not children."
Linda Traitz was either 18 or 19 when she met Bill Cosby, she said; she did not recall exactly. But she was fresh out of high school and new to the city, she said.
Cosby offered her a ride home but on the way, told her he'd like to swing by the beach with her in his Rolls Royce, she said. They parked, and he offered her drugs, an array of brightly colored pills, "to relax," she alleged.
She said no, a few times. "He kept offering me the pills," she alleged, and it made her feel uncomfortable. She claimed that he then groped her chest, pushing her down in the seat and toward the door, and tried to lay on top her.
President Barack Obama is ordering the most sweeping overhaul of the immigration system in decades, despite Republican claims he is acting illegally by moving unilaterally to shield five million undocumented immigrants.
Obama rejected accusations by conservatives that he is offering a free pass to undocumented immigrants and warned in a prime-time address that he would bolster border security and make it harder for unauthorized outsiders to get into the country.
"Today our immigration system is broken and everybody knows it," Obama said. "It's been this way for decades and for decades we haven't done much about it."
A young boy who was just adopted didn't only get a new family – he got new ears! He was born with hearing problems, so his adoptive mom got him cochlear implants. What was the first thing he wanted to use them for? Hearing a helicopter, of course. Chris Cuomo has the story.
