Is The White House Safe?

Should President Obama trust the Secret Service to keep him safe?

This question arises again after a Washington Post report says supervisors mishandled a 2011 shooting incident at the White House.

Washington Post reporter Carol Leonnig told "New Day" Monday it took the Secret Service four days to discover there had been a shooting.

The Secret Service has responded to these claims, but another investigative reporter, Ronald Kessler, asserts the group needs a change in management.

And he says President Obama and his family are not safe at the White House.

Kessler emphasizes the danger saying "the agents I talked to say it’s a miracle that there has not been an assassination so far."

Five Things to Know for Your New Day – Monday, September 29, 2014

An ISIS deserter talks about life in the terror militia, the man accused of a beheading in Oklahoma faces charges today, and what were 11-year-olds doing in a Miami nightclub caught in gunfire?

It's Monday and here are the 5 things to know for your New Day.

I quit: When airstrikes slammed ISIS in Syria, a window of opportunity opened for one of their fighters, who’d had enough. Abu Omar slipped across the border into Turkey. He’s hunkering down, because, now, he’s got a target on his back. He tells CNN in an exclusive interview with Arwa Damon that ISIS leans heavily on foreign fighters; he met lots of guys from France in the militia. He says they’ve got major pull in the group, and they’re even more heinously cruel than Syrian ISIS militants.
