Can Weather Patterns Help Predict Disease Outbreaks?

Scientists and meteorologists are able to predict the weather - could they apply the same technology to predicting epidemics like Ebola?

Carlos Watson, co-founder and editor of OZY, appeared on "New Day" Friday to discuss the efficacy of climate change data and technology, and how it could prevent future outbreaks.

Researchers have found that there could be correlations between weather patterns and the development of disease in a specific region.

Official: Israel Doesn't Commit War Crimes

A spokesman for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reacts to the end of the cease-fire in Gaza, dismissing the notion that the rockets from Gaza that broke the truce could have been launched by anyone other than Hamas.

"Hamas controls the Gaza strip with an iron fist," said Israeli government spokesman Mark Regev. "Hmamas' own leadership said it wasn't going to extend the cease-fire, that sends a green light to all sorts of other people."

Palestinians authorities in the West Bank are saying Israel has committed war crimes during this military operation, and should be brought before the International Criminal Court, an allegation Regev calls "ludicrous."

"Israel does not target civilians, Israel does not commit war crimes. In any combat situation, acidents can happen, citizens can get caught up in the cross fire, but that's very different from a war crime," said Regev.

Tropical Storm Iselle Floods Hawaii

Downgraded from a hurricane, Tropical Storm Iselle will bring heavy rain and damaging winds to Hawaii today.

The Big Island was put under a hurricane warning, the first since 1993.

Iselle will continue moving west, dropping large amounts of rain on Maui and The Big Island, as well as rain for the rest of the state.

The tropical storm will make its exit later today, but another hurricane could threaten the state.

Hurricane Julio strengthened to a major hurricane with winds at 120 mph sustained.

The track of Julio takes the hurricane north of Hawaii on Sunday, but the forecast path should be monitored.
