Arthur became the first Atlantic hurricane of the season early Thursday.

New York Jets Donate $1M to Help Injured Veterans Get Smart Homes

In today's edition of the "Good Stuff," the New York Jets join other charities to help a veteran get a technologically wired 'smart home.' CNN's Michaela Pereira reports.

U.S. Army Sergeant Bryan Dilberian got a hero's welcome in Staten Island earlier this week.

The triple-amputee lost an arm and both legs in an IED attack three years ago in Afghanistan that also took the life of his best friend.

Today, things are looking up for Dilberian.

He was on hand for the ground breaking of his future 'smart home' that was made possible by a group of veterans aid and home building charities and a $1 million donation from the NY Jets.

The sports organization donated the money to build two homes. Dilberian’s is one of them.

"It's just like another rebirth," he said.

The completed home will be outfitted with customized fixtures and an array of high-tech features that are all controlled from an iPad.

This will help Dilberian regain a sliver of that precious thing he lost in the line of duty: his independence.

"Our freedom is not there by accident. It's there because of our young men and women who serve.  Now he has a challenge going forward and hopefully the house is a little bit of an aid to him," said Jets owner Woody Johnson.
