With Fresh Wound, Teen Takes Team to State Semi-Finals

In today's edition of the "Good Stuff," a Chicago teen recovers from a gunshot wound and brings his basketball team to the state semi-finals. CNN's Michaela Pereira reports.

A bullet pierced the leg of Tyquone Greer as he was recently one of six people shot at a party on Chicago's west side .

Less than two weeks after the shooting, Greer stepped back on the basketball court and scored a three pointer with just three seconds left on the clock.

That propelled his team, the Orr Spartans, to the state semi-finals.

Washington Landslide: Families Pray for Miracles as Death Toll Grows

With each passing day, the toll grows from a mountain that moved, a massive landslide that swallowed houses and trailers in Washington's Cascade Mountains.

At least 16 bodies have been recovered, another eight bodies have been located but not recovered. That toll is only expected to grow as searchers dig through a mountain of mud and debris to try to find the people who called the towns of Oso and Darrington home.

Some were from the area, and others were drawn by the remote beauty of the rugged Cascade Mountains.

They were neighbors and, in some cases, friends.

Among them was a Navy commander with a love of the mountains and a retired couple living out their twilight years by spending time with their children and grandchildren. Then there was a 20-something and the man she loved, who were planning a wedding at the woman's family home.

Satellite Spots 300 Floating Objects

On Wednesday, Malaysia said it had received satellite images showing 122 potential objects floating in the ocean, not far from other satellite sightings that could be related to the missing passenger jet.

Adding to the list, a Thai satellite has spotted about 300 floating objects that could be linked to the missing plane in broadly the same region of the southern Indian Ocean, a Thai official said Thursday.

The Thai satellite captured the images on Monday, but it took several days to process them and pass them on to the Malaysian government, said Kampanart Deeudomchan, an official at Thailand's Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency.

Analysts have said the detection of possible objects is an encouraging sign, but so far nothing conclusively linked to the plane has been found.

"The type of wreckage or object that we're looking for is so close to the water line that now radars would not be able to pick it up," Norris of the HMAS Success told CNN's Anderson Cooper. "So we are very reliant on lookouts who use binoculars and night vision glasses to scan the horizon and scan the area around the ship while we conduct our search pattern."

The forecast from Friday morning through Saturday shows much improved conditions in the search zone, CNN's Javaheri said.

"Scattered clouds should be expected," he said. "But the winds and seas will both calm considerably, giving a rare a stretch of generally favorable conditions for this region during this time of year."
