The Message Behind Yulia Tymoshenko's Braid

When former Ukranian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko was released from prison Saturday, she appeared exhausted, emotional and angry.

She encouraged the Ukrainian opposition to continue to stay in Independence Square, no matter how difficult the fight. But there is one gesture that conveyed a message of hope to her supporters– her blonde, braided crown.

Tymoshenko never appears in public without this hairstyle because it holds special meaning for her supporters and her mission.
