Google's New Battle Robots

Google just bought robot development company Boston Dynamics, reports CNN's Christine Romans.

She says, "This is the eighth robotics company they've bought so you can see that there is a strategy here for Google... there are a lot of areas, in the manufacturing chain in particular, where robots can be a really good solution."

You've got to be kidding. The first manufacturing robot went live in 1961 in a GM foundry and CNN is just finding out about it now. Yes, the new Boston Dynamic robots are doing something "new and interesting" but robots have been doing things "new and interesting" pretty steadily for the last 50+ years. The fact that the liberal arts majors with their (remedial) critical thinking skills are just finding out about what the engineers have been doing for half a century is probably the bigger news story.
