Richard Stengel, author of "Mandela's Way: Lessons on Life, Love, and Courage" speaks of Mandela's time in prison.
"The man who went to prison was a different man that came out. Hot headed, tempestuous, easily upset. And prison steeled him. Prison was the crucible that really made him."
Rep. Charlie Rangel, (D-NY) says "God spent a lot of time on Nelson Mandela."
Nelson Mandela was a man who transcended boundaries created and maintained by the ignorance and foolishness of mankind whether it be based on race, religion, ethnicity, etc. He believed in the virtuousness of mankind, that through the human spirit, all obstacles could be overcome, that anything was possible. He was grandiose in his manner, exuding love, compassion and a deep feeling of empathy for the meek, the marginalised. He was not only a citizen of South Africa, but of the world. Certainly one of the most foremost personages in the history of mankind. A superlative example of how mankind should conduct itself. A man of great deportment. Remarkable in every sense. Never to be forgotten.
