Girl Raffles Rare Christmas Gift and Raises Thousands for Troops

In today's edition of the good stuff: 10-year-old Jordyn Self.

This resourceful little 4th grader recently went snooping around the house, and found her mom's big Christmas surprise for her.

It’s no ordinary gift, by the way– It's a limited edition "American Girl" doll, rare and expensive.  Well, Jordyn also noticed something else– the bins at her school collecting donations for our troops in Afghanistan, were nearly empty.

So what did Jordyn do?  She offered her precious Christmas gift, the doll, for a raffle.  That got attention, and before the raffle even happened, they raised thousands—a lot of that from people who didn't want the doll, they just wanted to help.

The grand total? More than $10,000 raised. No word what Jordyn will get for Christmas instead of the doll, but it better be something good.
