Cops Pull Over Car With Mom and 5 Kids Inside, Open Fire After Fight

A routine stop turns hairy when cops in pull over a minivan and open fire when the driver speeds away.

In that minivan, Orianna Ferrell was driving with her five kids, one as young as 6 years old, from Memphis, Tennessee, on vacation in northern New Mexico, reports CNN’s Miguel Marquez.

Video of the incident show a shocking series of events.

Cops pull Ferrell over for doing 71 in a 55 zone. Ferrell and the state police officer argue over the ticket, but then she speeds away. The police chase and catch up with her and the altercation escalates.

“Ferrell gets out of the van, they argue…when the officer tries to arrest her she heads for the door,” Marquez reports. “That's when Ferrell's 14 year old son Hezekiah jumps out of the van. He struggles with and distracts the police as his mother jumps back into the van; then he does too.”

Police attempt to extract the family members, taking a baton to the window, but Ferrell drives off again and three shots are fired into the minivan.

“Ferrell in full-on flee mode, breaking seemingly every rule in the traffic book. Finally she stops at a hotel in Taos, New Mexico,” Marquez says.

Both she and her son were arrested, and are now out on bond, her remaining four kids in state custody.

Among other things, Ferrell has been booked for fleeing, child abuse, and battery.

This family is obviously a little on the paranoid side. These porksters have obviously proven to the world why this family is not crazy for being paranoid. Paraphenalia and speeding does not warrant gunshots and baton swinging. That 14 year old deserves a medal for bravery and that pig deserves to get his ass kicked. Cops are supposed to be there to make the right decisions, and they are the ones who ALWAYS have the guns. I think these piggies really have something to worry about out there all alone on the highway... HAVE YOU IDIOTS EVER BEEN TO Memphis? Retribution is a well-practised reality there. If this were my family I would disregard all moral standards and go find these porkchops to have a little talk man to man. NOT YOUR HIGHWAY PIGGIE!

Gestapo police, that is what ungodly "liberals" have foisted on the US, besides a lot of other wickedness. Yes, the mother should have handled things very differently, but since when do police have to be so heavy-handed as to risk the lives of children. They could well have traced her plates and handled all this relatively peacefully. Instead, they act like bullying thugs, acting as though "might makes right" and thinking little of endangering the lives of children. As for the fourteen-year-old boy, he likely felt he was acting to defend his mother against a dangerous or deranged police officer, and should not be charged if that was the case. I am sick of the ungodly, unconstitutional thugs who pass for "police" in this country today. We need a reset button on our politicians and the prostitute police they've foisted on this country.

Pending drug paraphenalia charges as well. Guess most of the major networks chose to leave that part out when trying to "victimize" the mother in this.

      Police consider everything drug paraphernalia.

What? If you watch the entire 40 minute video and listen to the initial conversation between the mom and the officer, she is given the choice to plead guilty then and there and choose to pay up, or come back to court within 30 days, –But- he forces her to make that decision at that moment! She understandably wants to accept the ticket, drive off, and think about her choice over time. Ether the cop, or the state law– does not permit that. You must decide on the spot in New Mexico! Or do you.? This demand from the officer in an arguably bullying matter was the key link in the chain of events that led to
what followed and could have been avoided.

If someone wants to blame the cops, that would be they should've fired first time she was fleeing away.

Because everyone knows the penalty for fleeing the police in fear of arrest in your vehicle is death. (/sarcasm)

Same as Miriam Carey who made a deliberate decision to have her baby in the back seat while taking a driving tour of white House and Capitol security roadblocks knowing full well she should be stopping and talking to cops instead of providing life fire practice for DC police. A lot of police seem to be doing suicide by police to make a point. Might be small acts of Jihad

He is completely innocent. One being, he just arrived on the scene. It's definitely possible he was not aware of the passengers in the vehicle. Two being, you can clearly see he moves left and aims down at the road, shooting at the road to hit the tires NOT the actual passengers in the van. Police use this tactic to spin the van in a small radius and it will simply come to a stop.

This is 100% on the mother. The cops pulled her over twice, tried non-legal means of stopping her, and ultimately had no choice but to fire live rounds at the vehicle tires. If one of the children was struck as a result the mother would be (and should) tried for the endangerment and death of a child.

These same reporters would be reporting that a vehicle was stopped but was allowed to leave the scene, after she speeds off and runs someone over. They would want the officers fired for not stopping her. Darned if you do...

All of the networks are treating this with the usual ultra liberal bias. I am not sure why anyone would want to be a police officer with these "good intension?" media bed wetter's. Everyone needs to thank an officer for performing their duties today. God help them. If this woman or the public is concerned about this safety of those children, which they like the mother certainly do NOT...She would have complied with the officers and they need to rally around the officers for trying to stop this woman before she killed herself, the kids, and an innocent person. She reacted so out of any normal logically thinking person -I am not sure what she is capable of or where she was heading. The media wants these cops gone and they will be. But this will promote inaction and cops to allow drivers to risk all of our lives.
