Father of 9-Year-Old Stowaway: 'We've Been Asking For Help'

In a bizarre press conference held Wednesday, the father of that nine-year-old boy who sneaked onto a plane and flew to Las Vegas alone tells reporters he has a family in crisis.

Tearful and disguised, he says, “We've been asking for help. No one stepped up to help.”

“Just in the last few weeks the nine-year-old was suspended from school for fighting. That's when he not only stole this delivery truck but then apparently purposely crashed it into this squad car,” reports CNN's Miguel Marquez.

The Minneapolis Star Tribune found the boy has a history of riding the light rail to a local water park and sneaking in with a large family.

“He is a not this monster,” a family spokesman says. “He's just a kid with a lot of energy and creativity that needs  to be channeled in a new direction. “

“Now, the airport is reviewing its security arrangements based on this situation,” Marquez says. “We know this young man went through a hearing in Vegas that was closed and sealed.”

He is expected back home Friday.
