Obamacare: Day 3
CNN's Dr. Sanjay Gupta visits Maryland, a state where 13 percent of the population is uninsured and 2,000 insurance exchange accounts have been created, to examine how the roll out of Obamacare is working.
Dr. Gupta's team has been touring the nation in the CNN Express bus and in Maryland he visits a call center to figure out what Americans are asking about the program.
Maria, a call center worker, says most people ask if they'll be covered with a pre-existing condition and how much plans will cost.
She says the price for a 25-year-old could be as low as $150 or even lower depending on cost sharing and tax credits.
"For someone older it could be $300, it really depends on the specifics of their eligibility,” she says.
Government Shutdown Forces Clinical Trial Patients To Wait
Every week, hundreds of patients are admitted to new clinical trials at the National Institutes of Health. But as of Tuesday, these patients are being put on hold until the government resumes operation.
McKenna Smith is one such patient, CNN's Elizabeth Cohen reports.
The girl spends much of her day in a wheelchair suffering from a rare genetic disorder.
Smith says, "Sometimes I feel like I don't even want to get up because my back is aching so bad."
The pain she feels is caused by tumors that wrap their way around her nerves and compress her organs.
There's no cure but there is hope. On Monday, McKenna and her dad, Justin, arrived at the N.I.H in Bethesda, Maryland, so McKenna could start taking an experimental drug that might shrink the tumors.
But with the government shutdown, including most of the organization, the family was told there was a chance she might not get the medicine.
They thought they might have to go home to Florida but late Wednesday they were informed McKenna's treatment could go forward.
About 200 other new patients, including some 30 children, aren't so lucky. They won't get to join the studies just yet.
These patients are being put on hold until the government is back in business.

Dad's Dying Wish Is Fulfilled
In today's edition of the "Good Stuff," a dad's dying wish is fulfilled.
Johnny Wells will never see his 10-year-old daughter Nicole get married, so he did the next best thing. The family held a ceremony from his hospital bed, complete with a bouquet, a beautiful dress, a tux for dad, and even a pastor.
The ring is from daddy to daughter, which she'll wear until her wedding band replaces it. In return, Nicole promised dad to find a good man to marry, and if she does, dad promised to give his blessing.
The touching video has gone viral, and has inspired families across the country to hold similar ceremonies for their dying loved ones.
