Contestant Paul Atkinson landed on the elusive million-dollar wedge and lost because he mispronounced "corner curio cabinet"! Atkinson stopped by New Day to discuss and is relatively calm about it:
"I had never seen that word before. I'd never heard it, never seen it written down. So I was so stressed out about pronouncing curio... so I was staring at that word when I said 'corner' and it came out, I cut the 'o' at the end."

I've seen similar comments all over the web about this, and my thoughts essentially amount to this:
Paul really didn't lose anything but the $2,350 in front of him when he tried to solve. Sure, he lost his shot at locking in the Million Dollar Wedge, but if he were to play for the million in the bonus round, he would've had to win the game. He wouldn't have anyway, because his opponent Luis played the Express Round so brilliantly that he wound up with an insurmountable lead.
Remember: to even have a CHANCE at the million, there's a lot of hoops you have to jump through–land on the Million Dollar Wedge, guess a letter to claim it, solve that same puzzle to lock it in, don't hit Bankrupt for the rest of the game, and then WIN the game–only then is the million in play during the Bonus Round. Even then, you only have a 1/24 shot at landing on the envelope, and then you have to solve the puzzle.
tl;dr: Paul's loss only amounts to $2,350.
