Senator Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) tells “New Day” Anchor Kate Bolduan that there is a “great chance” diplomacy will work in Syria and that she would not support unilateral military action if diplomacy fails. She also says President Putin’s open letter in the 'New York Times' is “really a lot of bluster.”
“I think we do have good odds of this being successful," Senator Baldwin says. "It may not be pretty in getting there, but I think that we do have a great chance because the whole world, right now, is invested in trying to secure and destroy Syria’s chemical weapons stockpiles.”
When Bolduan asks her if she would support military intervention if diplomacy doesn't work, Senator Baldwin replies:
“I cannot support unilateral military action in Syria’s war. But I believe that we have to have a global response. And I don’t think that no response is the answer. I think that we have to strengthen our global institutions.”
