Holy Bat-Flack! Twittersphere Not Happy Ben Affleck Will Play Batman

Social media is buzzing over the surprising news that actor Ben Affleck's been cast as Batman in the "Man of Steel" sequel,  CNN's Tory Dunnan reports.

This is the one where Batman and Superman are supposed to team-up for the first time on the big screen.

Some, especially in the twittersphere, think the Affleck casting comes outta left field.

Entertainer Wil Wheaton tweets:

"Really looking forward to seeing Affleck bring the depth and gravitas to Batman that he brought to Daredevil and Gigli."

Affleck's last foray with special powers was in that super flop,  "Daredevil" in 2003.

This news ends weeks of rumors about who would play the caped crusader in the yet-to-be named action movie.

“It's a big cape, cowl, and utility belt to fill to say the least,” says Dunnan.

Affleck joins the Batman ranks following Adam West, Michael Keaton, Val Kimer, George Clooney and Christian Bale.

In a news release from Warner Brothers, filmmaker Zac Snyder says Affleck has "the acting chops to create a layered portrayal of a man who is older and wiser than Clark Kent and bears the scars of a seasoned crime fighter, but retains the charm that the world sees in billionaire Bruce Wayne."

Affleck will star opposite Man Of Steel's Henry Cavill, who will return as Clark Kent/Superman.

Now who will play the villain?

Aw come on folks, give Ben a chance. Yes he normally place 'nice guy' roles, but I think if he buffed up he could pull it off. He he very handsome and I think could do the mysterious side of Batman. Perhaps, even throw in some of his goofy humor for a pleasant surprise. I vote YES, you can do it Ben!
Just remember how Tom Cruise was really not well received to play Lestat in 'Interview with a Vampire', but he surprised everyone including Ann Rice who was also skeptical.

Come o now, the whole franchise has been poisoned. There's no hope for it any more. It wont matter who plays Batman, or who directs it, etc, etc...they pretty much all stink! Get over it!!!

Actually, he played George Reeve. He did not play Superman. He played a man who played Superman. There is a difference.
