Michaela Pereira on covering the tech industry: "Technology has leveled the playing field"

Before "New Day" starts Monday, you can find web videos featuring our show hosts and much more right here on NewDayCNN.com. In the latest in our "Before The New Day" series, Michaela Pereira talks about her early career – covering the tech industry before it became as ingrained in TV coverage as it is now. Pereira went from a "small town news station" in Canada, to a San Francisco start-up covering tech.

"It was becoming more of our daily life," says Pereira, news anchor for "New Day," of her job working for Tech TV. "We were all having to learn something, but we were all coming from our levels of expertise."

"Technology has leveled the playing field, for everything from the world of medicine to filmmkaing to the classroom," said Pereira.

Check back for more "Behind The New Day" web videos tomorrow.

I was so stoked when I first saw Michaela on CNN promoting the new show. She is a Goddess with a Microphone where ever she goes, she will make people feel at easy, smile and be happy that they are with her. I'm so elated for her as I've been enjoyed her work at KTLA 5 station where she made me be late for work on more than one occasion. CNN has a gift here and I look forward to seeing her and the team take off into magnificence

I was so stoked when I first saw Michaela's face on the promo video for "New Day" I'm truly elated that the CNN folks have selected this talented woman, A Goddess with a microphone, to bring the news to us thru this new show. I'm a big fan of Michaela for over a decade while she graced the Los Angeles' based KTLA 5 news team, I was addicted to the show and her wonderful interactions with all the other newscasters. I wish Michaela all that is best to print, report and broadcast and much, much success in her new endeavor at my all time favorite news outlet CNN.

Well done, Michaela! I have followed your career since the early days at CHEK. You interviewed me several times for Charity Walks I was organizing here in Victoria and I thought you were fantastic then. I'm glad to see others will now have the opportunity to enjoy your honest and fun style. Best wishes in your new role and I know you will continue to do us proud!
