When Chris first came to CNN he had a tough time as he adjusted to covering breaking stories for hours at a time. It's hard work, but his passion for the audience keeps him energized.
"I think what motivates me is that people need us," he says. "They need us to be there to connect them to what happens in the world, emotionally and intellectually, and to fight the fight. You only get once chance to wake up in the morning."

"If I wake up at 2:15," she says, "then when we start the show and I wake up at 2:45 or 3:00 it feels like Christmas!"
