Kate Bolduan on her busy first day at CNN and "mentor" Wolf Blitzer

Before "New Day" starts June 17, you can find web videos featuring our show hosts and much more right here on NewDayCNN.com. In this first video in our "Before The New Day" series, host Kate Bolduan talks about her first day as a reporter for CNN – which happened to be the day the Minneapolis bridge collapsed.

"They said, 'welcome to CNN, get on a plane,'" says Bolduan, recalling the 2007 experience. "I did some 47 live shots on my first day."

Bolduan also talked about CNN D.C. anchor Wolf Blitzer, who she co-anchored with on "The Situation Room" before starting at "New Day." "Wolf and I have been friends for years before we...started co-anchoring together. He's absolutely been my mentor and my biggest supporter," says Bolduan. "He knows Washington in and out and he's a wonderful anchor. He knows how to run a team."

Now I see why there are no commits on this site. Don't you want to hear what your viewers really think and want to see ? If no, then I believe your ratings will just continue to drop.

  3. No "IT"

Kate Bolduan is very pretty But she just doesn't have the "IT" appeal that draws you in to watch. Now I don't like Anderson Cooper's lifestyle BUT he has that special "IT" that makes you want to tune in and watch his program. I haven't watch the other lady yet so I can't comment on her. Chris Cuomo hasn't any "IT" either. So I don't know how long the show will last.

Just read the news to us, sweetheart. We don't need another news "personality".

I certainly hope the new show is successful. Please don't be as obnoxious and know-it-all like Soledad O'Brien was in the old show. She was continuously interrupting her guest and pushing her leftist agenda. Just give us the news, just plain and simple. We don't need a bunch of fluff and certainly not someone's personal agenda.

The Bolduan story is a non-news, self-promoting story that is good for only one thing: to demonstrate the continuing declines in the quality and news judgment of CNN.

Best of luck to Kate and her new show.

Unfortunately CNN's morning show is a total hack. They've gone through some pretty good talent ala Kiren, Soladad, Zorida, etc. 50% commercial, and the remaining airtime is 50% teasers. Not much news/stories going on. They seriously need to find a new producer IMHO.
