Five Things to Know for Your New Day – Friday, April 25

A narrowed underwater search for the Malaysian jetliner nears its end. There's another good reason to drink more coffee. And Russia and Ukraine are at it again.

It's Friday, and here are the 5 things to know for your "New Day."

1. MISSING PLANE

What's next? As an underwater sonar device plunged into the Indian Ocean for its 13th mission today, authorities are focusing on what to do if its search comes up empty. That outcome seems likely. The Bluefin-21 has slowly scoured 95% of the ocean floor searchers narrowed down for it and has found no trace of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370. But the Malaysian Prime Minister says he's not declaring the 239 people aboard  dead yet.

2. SOUTH KOREAN FERRY

More problems: A sister ship of the sunken South Korean ferry also has multiple safety concerns, investigators said.  The prosecutor leading the investigation of the ship sinking said authorities are looking at a passenger ferry belonging to the same company that owns the Sewol, which went down last week with 476 people on board.

3. UKRAINE CRISIS

New day, old tensions: Seems like Russia and Ukraine will not be making up anytime soon. Their tensions escalated yesterday after Russia launched new military drills along its shared border with Ukraine. It did so after Ukrainian forces said they killed five pro-Russian militants. Ukraine's response was swift. It issued a 48-hour deadline for Russia to explain its military drills, or else. ...

4. CLIVEN BUNDY

Exclusive CNN interview: Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy suggested blacks might have been better off under slavery. And he says he does not understand what all the uproar is about.  "I don't think I'm wrong," he said. "I think I'm right."

5. COFFEE BENEFITS

More shots, less illness?  Don't just drink coffee, drink more coffee! As if we needed another reason to down more shots of espresso. A new study suggests people who increased their coffee drinking lowered their risk of type 2 diabetes. Though the relationship between coffee and type 2 diabetes is nothing new, this latest one boosts the benefits.

Those are your five biggies for the day. Here are a few others that are brewing and have the Internet buzzing.

Fall guy: This poor firefighter takes a tumble down a ladder while motorists watch - and one shoots video.

Who wants one? Inventors create an adorable baby robot dinosaur named Boomer.

Run, doggie, run: This pug doesn’t just climb stairs - he bounces upstairs.

There you go. All you need to know to get an early start to your morning.
