Nearly 200 girls remain missing after being abducted in northern Nigeria. The death toll grows as more bodies are recovered from a submerged South Korean ferry. And there's been a rare American win at the Boston Marathon.
It's Tuesday, and here are the 5 things to know for your "New Day."
1. NIGERIAN GIRLS KIDNAPPED
Life in the north: More than a week ago, 230 girls were abducted from a school in northern Nigeria, and about 190 are still missing. As tragic as it is, these sorts of occurrences aren't unusual. The Islamist militant group Boko Haram has regularly bombed churches and mosques; kidnapped women and children; and assassinated politicians and religious leaders. Related violence has killed 1,500 people in the first three months of this year alone.
2. SOUTH KOREAN FERRY
More bodies found: It's a grim scene as South Korean divers recover body after body from the hull of a passenger ferry that sank last week. The death toll keeps ticking upward. The number of dead reached 108 Tuesday afternoon; the number of people still missing stood at 194. It's still considered a search and rescue effort, but no one's been found alive since shortly after the ferry went down Wednesday.
3. BOSTON MARATHON
A rare win: For the first time since 1983, an American won the men's division at the Boston Marathon yesterday. Meb Keflezighi crossed the finish line with an official time of 2:08:37. Kenyan Rita Jeptoo placed first in the women's division for the second year in a row, setting an unofficial course record with a time of 2:18:57. Security was extremely tight after last year's deadly bombing. There were no major incidents this time around.
4. UKRAINE CRISIS
Biden visit: U.S. Vice President Joe Biden is in Kiev, Ukraine, today in a show of support for the embattled interim government. He'll deliver a new aid package - a bundle that includes new economic and energy aid as well as other governance assistance. Ukrainian leaders are struggling to keep the country afloat amid financial problems and a showdown with Russia in the nation's pro-Russian east. Russia has already annexed Crimea.
5. HAWAII PLANE STOWAWAY
How did this happen? There are lots of questions after a 16-year-old boy hopped an airport fence in California and rode to Maui in the wheel well of a Hawaiian Airlines plane. How he survived the trip is the first question. But since he did, the second question is: How did he manage to accomplish the feat without being seen by anyone? Security cameras clearly show him in San Jose on Sunday, where his adventure began, and then crawling out from underneath the plane in Hawaii. In any case, he's lucky to be alive.

Thanks. I was just wondering why its not on the front page of the national news site? When a KKK member killed three people you guys ran several pages of information on the main page. Here we have 9 people killed and its no where up front
I thought it was the captain goes down with the ship not every man and woman for yourself. What a horrible tragedy.
