After Six Years, She Thought Her Diamond Ring Was Gone But Then ...

In today's edition of the "Good Stuff," a woman gets her diamond engagement ring back after more than six years,  thanks to a car technician in South Carolina who did some digging.

"This is by far the most magical Christmas I've ever had. I never thought I'd see that ring again!" said Leslie Tiller.

So what's the story?
In 2007,  Jacob Hickman, a college friend of Adam Tiller's, drove Tiller and his fiancee, Leslie, home from a wedding.

Leslie Tiller explains to CNN affiliate WHNS  that in the car, she had taken off her diamond engagement ring  to clean it, but dropped it and thought it fell into her lap. Once the couple arrived home, she says they searched for hours but never found the ring.

The couple was married a month later with a replacement ring.

Skip forward to the present. Hickman, the couple's old friend, picks up his car the Friday before Christmas from a Midas auto shop and sees the diamond ring sitting in the cup holder.

Hickman says he "was completely confused, but he said they found it during the service. So, Merry Christmas,' was what he told me."

Brandon Estell is the technician who worked on Hickman's Honda hybrid. He says he needed to disconnect one system to do his work, which meant taking out the back seat.

Estell says  now and then he finds loose change or a dollar, but an engagement ring is something new.
"I had no idea it was going to be this big, so I feel really good. I'm glad that I could help these guys out and make their Christmas a little more special than usual."
It was on his drive home that Hickman remembered the Tillers and the wedding long ago.
So Leslie got her ring back, thanks to the car technician and his diamond touch.

So good to know there are honest people. It would have been very easy for that ring to remain lost.

She took her engagement ring off to clean it during a car ride? Who cleans their rings while riding in a car, especially expensive engagement rings? I'm glad she got her ring back but that story is really strange.

Did the technician get a generous Christmas gift - in the form of cash - from the car owner? Shame if he didn't.
