A Girl's Christmas Surprise for Her Deaf Parents

In today’s edition of the "Good Stuff," a hand of applause for kindergartner Claire Koch, who shows the so-called sign language interpreter at Nelson Mandela’s memorial how it’s done. And she’s only five.

In the video above, she's signing for a very important reason; both of her parents are deaf.

She did it as a surprise so her folks could enjoy her Christmas concert– and, boy, were they surprised.

Mom says she's very proud of her little girl and says she's "a much better interpreter than Nelson Mandela's fake one."

wow,, this reminds me of a movie that won a lot of awards (including an Academy Award nomination for best foreign film) called Beyond Silence a german movie about a girl who signs for her deaf mother and father and is herself like her parents mother, the parents are very distrusting of the hearing and tend to keep to themselves and or with other hearing impaired people. I luckily speak German and German-Yiddisch so watching was natural for me but it does have english subtitles as well,, watch on netflix a very well done and acted film for the whole family.

How adorable! Although, I don't appreciate how this article equates the girl's signing with the interpreter at Mandela's memorial without providing context. Inadequate, hype-seeking "journalism"

The only thing missing here is the look on this little angel's mothers face.

I feel so happy, that a Kid is doing this with enthusiasm. I bet you, she going to be the best,if her parent could nurture her well in sign language.
    Thanks
