Can certain foods actually increase your chances of clinical depression? A new study from Harvard University is saying yes, and some of the culprits are probably on your favorite food list.
Dr. Roshini Raj, an assistant professor of medicine at NYU Langone Medical Center, stopped by "New Day" to explain.
Note, this research is based on foods consumed during the period 1994 – 2002. Formulations of many of the foods in the study have changed a great deal since 2002 especially in terms of nutrition benefits. Margarine is one of these with dramatic reduction and elimination of trans fats. Consumers can be reassured that when it comes to making the healthiest choice, soft spread margarines have 0 grams trans fat, less than a 1/3 of the saturated fat in butter and no cholesterol.

Interesting study, although they do not answer, if not pasta causes depression, but depressed people eat more pasta and other 'comfort food'. Italians are well known for eating a lot of pasta, so nickname 'makaronniki' and they are mostly energetic and optimistic.
