'Camp Gyno' Ad About Periods Goes Viral

It's a coming of age moment for girls – but talking about it is still very much taboo. Periods. That time of the month. Aunt Flo's monthly visit.

Well now, a new ad for a tampon starter kit is trying to get that conversation going in a humorous, shame-free way, CNN's Kelly Wallace reports.

This is not your mother's period ad and forget the commercials that made 'Aunt Flo' sound like a horrible relative, in this commercial she is a red bad courage.

"I was the first one to get it so I was like the expert. I became the Camp Gyno," says the young girl in the ad.

With Five million views on YouTube in a week, it has become an internet sensation.

It is the brainchild of HelloFlo.com, a company offering a monthly subscription tampon service and period starter kits for girls.

Maybe Camp Gyno is helping more girls, unlike their moms before them, feel empowered, not ashamed. Period.
