School Bus Beating Caught on Video in Florida

Shocking video of a 13-year-old boy being brutally attacked by three 15-year-olds on a school bus in Florida has emerged. All three boys have been charged in the attack, but questions are now emerging about the only adult present - so why didn't the school bus driver do more?

John Moody, the bus driver, says he did all he could, even though he stopped far short of physically stepping in to protect the victim.

In the video, the victim cries for help as he is mercilessly punched and stomped, reports CNN's Pamela Brown. Police say the attackers broke the victim's arm and stole his money.

According to Pinellas County school policy, the driver is not required to intervene, only to call dispatch. Moody says he was too afraid to step in:

"The three boys just jumped on him and started pounding on him and I did all can. I was looking. It was like I was in shock. I was petrified," he says in the above video.

Pinellas County leaves it up to the driver, but many counties actually forbid drivers from physically stopping fights.

Gulfport police say Moody won't face charges, but that the 64-year-old – who retired just two weeks after the beating – could have done more.

John Moody says this was his only problem in 18 years of driving and he doesn't want to be judged – or remembered – for it.

I am sick of the screams of racism, Trayvon has had his name heard and all hell had broke loose now this what the heck they should not be excused because they are just as bigoted as they claimed Zimmerman was. They cannot get by with it, this is a hate crime through and through If you want to use the shoe on the other foot it is no different { By The way I do not believe this is a race crime, except for the fact they hated the young white boy for turning their butts in when they tried to sell him drugs} Thus they should be charged big time as ADULTS and it should be called a hate crime!
Morning news baby that was shot, while two young black men tried to rob his Momma, will be indicted, barely made mention of this horrendous crime in the News. Nowhere near, Trayvon Martins, and Zimmerman Case!!!!!!. Get real these black young men beating to death a white boy makes it officially a big news crime, since the Trayvon case is the excuse for them to yell race then what about the news making this a race crime as well. Ok Mr. President Obama, does this make your white half state this could have been your son or could have been you years ago, what about the little baby could you have been him.???? Death is death a crime is a crime, and law is law. When a jury of your pears state your innocent, and half of them were of your own race then that's that the laws position; Whether many of us liked it or not. Let's get real the whites the Hispanics the blacks the Asian, none are at fault for a jury's verdict.
*** Obama is half white/half black he should never as our leader used the race card he should have had the smarts to say a jury of Zimmermann peers decided, maybe I do not care for it, and my heart truly hurts for Trayvon's family and I wish them Peace. Now we need to move on and look towards the future. Race should not have come into play by or from him.*** Americans Becoming United and rebuilding America should have been and should be His Main Focus!
Sorry If I over spoke just sick of It all, when Obama does not seem to care for Americans as he should! As our President and as Commander and Chief over the US Military , He should be held to the same if not even better standards then our military he presides and rules over and should never ever play a race card!

***My Prayers Go Out to the young boy who was beat and to All of the Families that have had their life's turned upside down and destroyed by the death of their loved ones and babies. May God Bless them and bring peace to Each of Their hearts.

This crime wasn't reported on because all the current civil rights leaders are exactly what they "preach" about: bigoted, hypocritical racist.

It is about race and cowardice! 66 years ago I was jumped by a group of blacks because I was white and their own mother stood there and watched. If I had of been part of something like that my father would have whipped me with a belt until I bled and that is exactly what should happen to these three young punks, soon to be thugs and predators. As for the old black man, he is simply a coward and hiding behind "the rules". He has to live with that.

Does anyone feel the anger? Yes, i will accept that something needs to be done about what a bus driver can do. They need help. But, this is not "Bullying" this was a crime! Period! How did those boys know that this kid told on them? School official must have told them. Why? It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure this out. THE BIG STORY! RACE! These are three black 15 year old beating a white 13 year old, about not wanting to buy drugs. Why as it is said in the two other comments are you not speaking about race? You spent months on the George Zimmerman case with hours of coverage. There is never a story about the truth. Black people can be just as racist as a white person and this story is proof. What you want admit is that our degradation as adults had now trickled down to our children. Theses boy beat that kid because he was white. If he had been black it would have been a whole different story. And quit using the word 'culture' as if you are trying to say something but aren't. Call it what it is. Do more investigating on the story. And give us what else their is to be told. And I have questions about the fact that the bus driver is black too! His answers and statement in the video was NOT believable.

I have found total frustration with the public school system and feel their policies actually encourage bullying. Currently, the bully & the bullied child are both given the same punishment in most schools. This does not discourage the bully, it energizes them. Also, teachers should get involved when they are made aware of a bullied child and remain vigilant. Instead, the bullied child has the responsibility of reporting the bully, which brings more negative attention to the weaker child. The public school is more concerned about political correctness than protecting a child!
