A California man is in custody after allegedly using his Dodge as a deadly weapon on the Venice Beach boardwalk on Saturday.
“Surveillance video taken from a nearby restaurant shows the suspect's car plowing into people on the crowded Venice boardwalk and swerving around barriers,” reports CNN's Paul Vercammen.
An Italian tourist on her honeymoon was killed and 11 others injured when the car raced down the packed beach boardwalk.
“The suspect is 38-year-old Nathan Campbell of Los Angeles,” Vercammen says.
Campbell surrendered to police in neighboring Santa Monica just two hours after the hit and run. According to authorities, he told them "I think you’re looking for me."
“If there is a motive in this carnage, police aren't saying right now,” Vercammen reports. “But they did say that Campbell was bent on evil.”
His bail is set at one million dollars.
