New allegations are surfacing involving New York City Mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner who has in the past admitted to inappropriate conduct online. Now a new round of sexting and photographs have surfaced that has voters asking, can he be trusted?
Weiner has said in the past that more pictures could surface, but the real surprise came in his news conference, CNN's Pamela Brown reports. This morning, The New York Times and the New York Daily News are calling for Weiner to withdraw from the race.
"I have said that other texts and photos were likely to come out and today they have," says Anthony Weiner (D) New York Mayoral Candidate in a press conference yesterday. "Some of these things happened before my resignation, some of them happened after."
The disgraced congressman once again guilty of the same behavior that publicly humiliated his wife back in 2011, while she was pregnant. This time around, his wife, Huma Abedin, addresses the newly surfaced allegations in a very public way:
"It took a lot of work, and a whole lot of therapy to get to a place where I could forgive Anthony," says Abedin, asking New Yorkers to forgive her husband like she has.
Weiner's latest apology came after new pictures and text messages with a 22-year-old woman surfaced on the gossip website TheDirty.com. Back in April when Weiner announced candidacy for New York mayor, he said more allegations could emerge.
Other candidates have said Weiner should withdraw from the mayoral race and that he is unfit for office, but Weiner says he will not drop out.
Republican Strategist Ana Navarro & Daily Beast Senior Political Columnist John Avlon weigh in on "New Day." Watch:
"The problem is that this discussion is not going on in their living room or in their bedroom, it's playing out in front of national TV, and I have to tell you it was almost like watching a horror film, I just kind of wanted to cover my eyes but keep on watching," says Navarro.
I, for one, am very tired of hearing about Anthony's weiner. When something like that becomes the focal point in a run for election, there is a problem with the political process. How about if the media just quits giving this delusional idiot any exposure or credence.
He is an embarrassment to himself and his family. I don't care how brilliant his wife, I find her a disappointment to the female race. NY you can do better than this.
I think the news here is that some of his inappropriate behavior was AFTER his resignation. Clearly not reformed. Clearly not apologetic. My concern is with his lack of self-control and impulse issues. Is he fit to lead? I don't think he is.
I mean look at the dork.. he has a hawk-face. Probably didn't score until he was 21 years old and he's gonna make up for it.
He's going to use his power and charisma to try to land any willing woman he can. He doesn't have an illness people, he's just a dog, and he doesn't have an issue with that. He doesn't believe he has a problem. The problem as he sees it is getting caught. He's the guy bragging to his buddies about all the side action he's getting and thinks it's fun.
His wife has decided that she's stuck with him and all his flaws and is willing to put up with his infidelities if it means a life of luxury.
They deserve each other.
If the voters don't want him, let them take it to the polls. Why allow the media to dictate?
The gall of this man is unbelieveable. Does our political class really think that Americans will deny reality and common sense like they have in our last two national elections? Aparently so. These politicians must wake up every morning and look at themselves admiringly in the mirror. Get rid of all of them. New York – you can do better.
"The foundation of our national policy will be laid
in the pure and immutable principles of private morality;
the propitious smiles of Heaven
can never be expected on a nation that disregards
the eternal rules of order and right
which Heaven itself has ordained"
George Washington, First Inaugural, April 30 1789
DEPRAVITY is the HALLMARK of NY
This guy will win in a landslide !!!
FORWARD >>> >>> >> >>> >>> >> >>> >>>
To absolute depravity for ALL of america
Look at the face – do New Yorkers want to show this as their mayoral face?
If he is so-so-so interested in public services there are other ways – show them first!!
This is beyond stupid. Give up public life. You are not fit for that type of duty as your past repeated actions have proved.
Bye bye, for the last time Tony.
I hate how these political perverts drag their spouses into their sex scandals. Mr. Danger, please stop parading your wife in front of the camera. She is not a political prop and she doesn't deserve to be publicly humiliated because you apparently suffer from some sort of compulsive sexual mental illness.
PS. Drop out. If, God forbid, you were elected, you wouldn't make it halfway into your term before having to resign as a result of your next scandal. If you stay in the race we're going to have to hear about your sick sexual fetishes until election day. We deserve better.
Are you kidding I love how the spouses are humiliated in front of everyone during a press conference. It shows the supposed "smart" person is actually and idiot. This is fun. And BTW if he gets elected NYC gets everything they deserve!!!
Mr Weiner like Mr Spitzer are unfit to lead and must on a level think New York City voters are a naive bunch. They both fail the bare minimum standards elected officials should embrace and as such they should do us all a favor and simply dissappear from the public for good sparing us the agony of all the sorid details of their disfunctional personal lives.
