It's a boy! After months of anticipation and speculation, Britain’s newest royal was born Monday weighing in at 8 lbs., 6 oz.
And without further ado, the royal celebration was underway!
“London’s landmarks lighting up the night sky in red, white and blue in honor of Prince William and Kate’s first baby, many celebrating into the night,” “New Day” anchor Kate Bolduan reports.
“After more than ten hours of labor at St. Mary's Hospital, Kate delivered the third in line to the British throne. Prince William stayed the night by his wife and baby’s side.”
The new father issued a brief statement saying, “We could not be happier.”
The feeling is mutual among well-wishers in London and around the world, who are eager to know more about the royal child and his parents. Apparently they had pizza after the delivery.
“Because pizza is their favorite food and who wouldn't want a pizza after they’ve had a baby, frankly?” CNN Royal Commentator Katie Nicholl says. “I think they just had some special time together.” Watch:
“I think it was very special that William stayed at the hospital. They have got a special bed out for him. He’d have been at his wife’s side…I bet you they didn’t sleep. I bet you they just stared through that little cot and looked at the miracles of life.”
But what will the royal parents name their little miracle?
“I definitely think they're going to stay doing what royals do, which is choosing a dynastic name, one with a sense of history and continuity,” says CNN Royal Commentator Victoria Arbiter. Watch:
“My guess is that the long shot would be Arthur. It's kind of trendy and cool again, but it is still very royal,” says Arbiter.
