Get to Know the "New Day" Team: Kate Teaches Skeet Shooting

Kate grew up hunting with her Dad. “There’s a special bond between father and daughter," she says, "and in a family of four daughters, one of us was destined to be the tomboy. That was me.”

Now watch her teach Chris and Michaela how to shoot. Guess who could use a cannon and still miss the target?

I would like to say that I am a true fan of CNN....I remember when I was young I never watched the news! Now at only 33 years of age, the news has become my daily source watching it almost 24hrs a day. I am a single Black Female, also a single mom to 2 teenage boys. I manage a 609 room hotel on an Army installation, which takes alot of my time. I wanted to comment on your new show, "New Day". I was very excited and pumped up watching the announcement of the new show and excited for the arrival time. I was very excited that you have an African American woman, who is very beautiful on the new show. I saw her interview on how she was so excited to be on the show and looking forward to the opening. However, I felt that after watching the show for the 3rd morning now, I am very dissappointed. I want to speak on behalf of Michaela, that although she might not show her emotions....I will express what I think she maybe thinking. is it that CNN promoted this new show with all 3 broadcasters and when the show comes on, I only see the 2 announcers and Michalea off to the right....not even to be seen until several minutes after. I don't think this is fair to her, and your viewers. She has to sit there waiting for her to be called upon on, not even a chance to say Good morning to the viewers, Chris has to say her name and she whispers Good morning!! I want to say that you should change your round table and include with them and on camera. You promoted her all this time but only to give her a few lines.....Michalea I want you to know that I truly am proud of you and I hope that you get treated better soon. I look up to you and I hope that one day you maybe able to reach out to me an CNN doesn't delete this message. I am a fan of yours now, and promise to send an email everyday until I see you apart of your new team! Please keep smiling and I will continue to pray that this goes well for you! Good luck and hope to hear from you soon!!!.

What a great piece. When I first met Jeff Bolduan, Kate's dad, he was dressed in hunter's cammo in the hospital. Doc Bolduan, the duck hunter was going to yank out my kidney stone. Not only was Kate a tomboy, but she was the most competitive little cuss I ever met. I often thought she was going to throttle her less-talented teammates because she felt they weren't trying as hard to win as she was.
